Description
The name Laphroaig comes from the Gaelic word and means “the beautiful hollow by the broad bay” The Laphroaig Distillery was founded by a couple of local farmers Donald and Alexander Johnston in 1815 and remained in the family for the next 139 years. The Laphroaig Distillery lies on Islay’s south coast, and it is believed that the art of Whisky making was first brought to Islay by Irish Monks.
