Description
In 1883 Bunnahabhain first came into existence on the shores of the sound of Islay. Bunnanabhain in Gaelic means “mouth of the river” As Bunnanabhain stands at the head of the Margadale Spring it got its name. In those early days Bunnahabhain distillery with its small pier and Village relied heavily on sea trade, armed with their forefathers know how for making lots of great Whisky, “the good stuff” was sent in casks along the Sound of Islay to the mainland with trade going back the other way.
