Description

Abhainn Distillery is a Scottish whisky distillery located on the Isle of Lewis in the Outer Hebrides. Founded in 2008 by Mark Tayburn, it is one of the newest distilleries in Scotland and the first legal distillery on the Isle of Lewis since 1829. Abhainn Distillery is known for producing high-quality, handcrafted single malt whisky. They use traditional methods of whisky-making, such as floor malting and direct-fired stills, to create a distinctive flavour profile that reflects the unique terroir of the Isle of Lewis. The distillery sources its water from a nearby stream, which is believed to be one of the purest sources of water in Scotland. In addition to producing whisky, Abhainn Distillery also offers tours and tastings for visitors. The distillery is open year-round and provides an opportunity for visitors to learn about the whisky-making process and the history of whisky in Scotland. Despite being a relatively new distillery, Abhainn has already gained a reputation for producing high-quality whisky that is both unique and flavourful. As the demand for craft whisky continues to grow, Abhainn Distillery is poised to become a major player in the Scottish whisky industry.
